Why isn't there a cure for hearing loss?

Is the lack of a hearing loss cure a conspiracy by the hearing aid industry? The reality is that there is currently research being done on multiple fronts to discover a cure to hearing loss. However, restoring the microscopic inner ear human hair cells that are responsible for detecting sound and sending a signal to the brain is extremely challenging and complex.
