This study aimed to investigate the efficacy of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) combined with intratympatic steroid (ITS) treatment for idiopathic sudden sensorineural hearing loss (ISSNHL) in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Results are not yet extractable from the abstract alone, but if the combined approach shows efficacy in end-stage renal disease patients, clinicians managing sudden hearing loss in this population may need to consider it as an option — await full-text review before changing practice.
End-stage renal disease patients are underrepresented in sudden sensorineural hearing loss trials, so evidence specific to this high-risk group could meaningfully inform a clinical gap.
