The new Oticon Reveal hearing aids are finally here—and I traveled to San Diego to attend their official United States launch alongside nearly 800 hearing care professionals. I had already been wearing Oticon Reveal for several weeks before the event, but this was my first opportunity to compare notes with other hearing care professionals, hear the research directly from Oticon, and see how providers reacted to the new technology. Oticon Reveal is built on the new Reveal AI platform, which uses two separate deep neural networks: one trained to identify speech and another trained to recognize the surrounding sound context. The goal is to make speech clearer without stripping away the environmental sounds that help your brain understand where you are and what is happening around you.
