In this video, I discuss a social media post from a new hearing aid user who experienced a problem with one of their hearing aids but was too afraid to contact their hearing care professional for assistance. While the hearing aid issue itself may have been easy to fix, the bigger concern was the relationship between the patient and their provider. As someone who strongly advocates for both Best Practice Audiologic Care and Person-Centered Care, I believe successful hearing treatment requires more than just technical expertise. Patients should feel comfortable, respected, and supported throughout their hearing healthcare journey.
