OBJECTIVES: To define the dual profile of visual-vestibular integration in vestibular migraine (VM) by concurrently evaluating visually enhanced vestibulo-ocular reflex (VVOR) and vestibulo-ocular reflex suppression (VORS), and to determine which metric more closely reflects disease-related central vestibular dysfunction.
Audiologists and vestibular specialists should be aware that concurrent VVOR/VORS profiling may help identify a threshold-dependent VOR suppression deficit specific to vestibular migraine, potentially improving differential diagnosis — but clinical validation in larger cohorts is needed before changing testing protocols.
Characterising a threshold-dependent VOR suppression deficit in vestibular migraine could refine vestibular function testing and improve differentiation of this condition from other balance disorders seen in audiology clinics.
