► Learn more about the world’s first invisible cochlear implant: https://www.medel.com/hearing-solutions/tici *How does an invisible cochlear implant work?* Discover TICI UNICO, MED-EL’s totally implantable cochlear implant for people with severe to profound sensorineural hearing loss. Every part—including the microphone—is surgically placed under the skin, creating a cochlear implant without an external audio processor and with nothing worn on or in the ear. This animation explains how this invisible cochlear implant detects environmental sounds through the skin, digitally converts them into electrical pulses, and delivers targeted stimulation to specific regions of the cochlea. By bypassing non-functioning hair cells, TICI sends sound signals directly to the auditory nerve, where they can be interpreted by the brain as sound. You’ll also learn how this fully implantable cochlear implant is charged using the GoPod—and how users can continue hearing while TICI charges. See what makes this cochlear implant invisible, how a hidden cochlear implant works, and why TICI represents an important step toward the future of cochlear implants and the latest in cochlear implant technology. __________________ ► *Chapters:* 00:00 – What is an invisible cochlear implant? 00:19 – Fully implantable with no external microphone 00:50 – How the implant and cochlea work 01:30 – How hearing loss affects cochlear hair cells 01:42 – Bypassing non-functioning hair cells 01:52 – Converting sound into electrical stimulation 02:39 – Charging TICI UNICO with the GoPod __________________ ► *Have questions?
