Ménière's disease (MD) is a chronic vestibular disorder that significantly impacts patients' quality of life (QoL). However, the influence of comorbid conditions on QoL in MD patients remains inadequately explored. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the prevalence of comorbidities in patients with MD and analyze their impact on patients' QoL.
Audiologists managing Ménière's disease patients should be aware that comorbid conditions meaningfully worsen quality of life and consider screening for or referring around psychological and systemic comorbidities — though this single-center cross-sectional design limits causal inference.
Understanding the compounding burden of comorbidities on Ménière's disease patients supports a more holistic, multidisciplinary care model and may inform counseling and referral practices in audiology and otology.
- 01Single-center cross-sectional study examining comorbidities in Ménière's disease patients.
- 02Comorbid conditions are associated with reduced quality of life in this population.
- 03Published in Frontiers in Neurology; observational design limits causal conclusions.
- 04Findings highlight the need for holistic management beyond inner ear symptoms alone.
- 05Results may not generalize beyond the single study center.
