Translation and validation of the extended version of the effort assessment scale for adults with cochlear implant in Turkish language

OBJECTIVES: Although assessing listening effort is clinically essential, no validated Turkish self-report measure currently exists. This study aimed to translate and culturally adapt the Extended version of the Effort Assessment Scale (EEAS) into Turkish and to evaluate the validity and reliability of the Turkish EEAS (T-EEAS) in adults with typical hearing (TH) and cochlear implant (CI) users.

Turkish-speaking audiologists and CI programs now have a validated self-report tool for listening effort; no change to broader clinical practice is indicated for non-Turkish-speaking clinics.

Validated, language-specific outcome measures are essential for equitable audiological care across diverse populations, and this fills a documented gap for Turkish cochlear implant users.
